Ross Boyens hails from New Zealand and still has family both there and in Australia.  Ross resides in the UK from where he and his wife escape during the northern winter months  to head “down-under”.

Currently director for Aviatrade in Australasia with clients such as Sir Peter Jackson, prior Gulfstream G650 owner and film director/Lord of the Rings.

Selected for service as a pilot in the Royal Air Force in 1972. Three years in training was followed by being posted to Harrier (jumpjet) fighters.

He Met Philip Rushton, President Aviatrade, during basic flight training at RAF Linton-on-Ouse. Still hanging out together many years later!!!!

Service with No. 4 Squadron Harriers at RAF Wildenwrath and RAF Gutersloh, West Germany, during the Cold War 1976-79. Saw action in the Falklands War, South Atlantic, with No1 (F) Squadron Harriers aboard HMS Hermes, May/June 1982

On return from the South Atlantic he instructed on Hawk Jet Trainers at the Tactical Weapons Unit, RAF Chivenor

Selected for the RAF Aerobatic Team, The Red Arrows, 1984-85. Flew the Synchro Pair position as Red 7, then as leader Red 6.

Joined Cathay Pacific Airways as a First Officer in 1986 on B747-200/300 on which he gained his Command in 1989. Conversion to the B747-400 followed soon after.

Last flying position was in Dubai as a Captain with the Dubai Royal Flight (DAW) on B747-400 from 2008-11

Total of 17,000 hours military and civilian single and multi-engine time flying extensively worldwide.

Made a Liveryman of the Honorable Company of Air Pilots in 2015.

A very keen motorcycle rider owning a BMW R1200 GS on which he covers 5-6,000 miles most years in Europe and New Zealand. Also a very keen golfer with an 11 handicap ( on a good day! )
